The Prayer of Boldness
The prayer of boldness in Acts 4 is a text that has just destroyed me, and it is a good destroying. It is trying to destroy my priorities, and my plans and my fears. It is a good destroying. It is destroying some of the things that make me radically different from my brothers in the early church.
Knowing Jesus
One of my favorite things about ROL is how much we look to Jesus; we have spent the last number of years meditating as a church on the Gospel. The content of our worship songs, our sermon series, our conferences, all centered on Jesus. I spent most of my life studying the epistles; I loved the meat and theological topics of Paul and Peter's teaching. Whenever I would read the gospels I never felt like I got anything from them.
Revival
As long as I can remember loving Jesus, I have always felt this pull towards revival. It isn't something I have fully seen, or something that I even understand. There is just something inside of me that gets excited when I hear about revivals that have happened.
Giving Thanks
Last night I got the opportunity to hang out with some old friends in Regina that I hadn't seen for years, and it was a lot of fun. All the classic questions were asked: 'How is life?' 'What do you do for work' 'How can I be more like you Stephen'...okay maybe not that one. As we talked at a somewhat surface level, I had real revelation about how much God has done for me in the last few years and this last year specifically.
Come to me...
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"
