The song, "Climb', by Will Reagan & United Pursuit Band has been running through my mind and heart these last few weeks. It starts out "I know that I can trust you, I know that I can trust you.......I lean not on my own understanding trusting in the one who's the maker of Heaven. The music seems to culminate with a declaration, "I will climb this mountain with my hands wide open". It is such a declaration of trust and confidence in God. It ends with "there's nothing I hold on to". Triumphant trust and surrender.

From conversations, events that have passed, and some of my experiences this week, I decided to write about praying for our leaders. If we are a bird in flight and one wing is much smaller, weaker, or possibly broken we may not be able to fly.

The end of 2012 has come. What did this year bring for you? Was it a year of advancing in your understanding of Christ and your identity as a son or daughter of a King? Was it a year of trials and struggles? Was it a year that swept you up in the busy-ness of everyday life?

What captivates your heart? We have been asked to consider, ponder and meditate on this great question. What an opportunity to acknowledge the truth that lies in this reflective time to surface in our hearts and minds. Time to allow God to expand and breathe life into those places that are asleep or not yielding the life we so desire.

It's my pleasure to share some thoughts with you this week, particularly as we are turning our hearts towards the celebration of Advent. Two years ago, as an ROL intern, I was given the task of planning the worship portion of our Christmas Eve service. The time spent planning and researching Christian worship during the Christmas season served to stir up expectation in my heart, and to deepen the hope I already associated with Christmas.
