Seeking First the Kingdom

I was talking with Dave Stroeve this week, we were marveling at the blessing our church is too us. We have had an action packed week, with the consecration ceremony, celebration and Canon conference, there have been many great words given, works done and vision cast that we can look forward too. We marveled at the body of believers we get to walk with and all the great callings of those around us. I believe it to be a tremendous blessing to be a part of this body and to see all the different and unique ways the Lord is choosing to use those in our church for his kingdom.

As Amos said last Sunday, I believe everyone is called to mission.  Now where mission can look like working in vocational ministry or as a missionary it can also look like almost anything else. For me, I am seeking after personal revival with a goal of redeeming business and culture for ministry and for mission. I feel that the Lord is calling me into business in order that I may do mission, ministry and grow in intimacy with him in the process. I believe that this is what redeeming business looks like.  Success and profit are afterthoughts of mission and ministry rather than the primary goals... In fact I think this is what it looks like to redeem anything; from liturgy to business, from parenting to worship, laboring to education, culture to politics. Having mission, ministry and personal revival as the primary focus will begin the work of redeeming whatever it is your called too. “Seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness” Matthew 6:33a.

Join with me in prayer this week in a prayer of thankfulness for the church that God has given to us; and for whatever it is you're doing, working on or called to - that God would start a personal revival in your life. Then let us pray for God to redeem for himself our city, business, parenting, culture, etc. through his body the church.  That is to say, through us!

Lord father, I thank you for the joy of my brothers and sisters in Christ in which you have made me a part, your holy church, for the many callings and giftings you have placed here and for the gracious servant leadership we are able to enjoy. I pray that you would take my life as a living sacrifice, that you would bring revival to my soul, desires and mind. Lord I pray that through the calling you have placed on my life that you would begin a work of redemption. Father that through the church you would begin redeeming our city and our culture. Amen.
